Rainforest Horseriding CAIRNS

Half Day Horse Riding Adventure in beautiful Karanda only 30 minutes inland from Cairns & nestled in the worlds oldest known rainforest on the planet.
Horse Riding tours operate twice daily in all weather conditions (except cyclones). The tour departs from our ranch at 9:30am and 1:30pm.

Our 190 acre beautiful property consists of pristine virgin Rainforest which borders open Eucalypt Woodlands and Natural Streams.

Our property is a conservation neighborhood and lies within a wildlife corridor which is habitat to many native animals such as the Cassowary, Bush Turkey, Wallaby, Paddemelon, Ulysses Butterfly and Lace Monitor (Goanna), which roam free around on the property. Other attractions include giant Strangler Fig Trees, a Kangaroo Sanctuary, Morgan and Gordon the tame bulls, Termite nests and the tranquil Billabong which is home to the Water Dragons, Ducks, Turtles, Fish and Eels.

Billabong Adventures is locally owned, owner operated and family friendly. We pride ourselves on offering tours with small group sizes, and catering for all experience levels. Our facilities include a fully licensed saloon bar, restaurant, and accommodation facilities overlooking the billabong.
The tour is aproximately 2hrs and will take you on a magical journey through the natural rainforest of the Kuranda Valley. Experienced guides will point out natural wonders of both flora and fauna during your tour, and answer any questions you may have. Be amazed by the abundance wildlife including native birds, bush turkeys, goannas, paddemelons, wallabies, cassowaries, & more. Experience sudden changes in scenery, beautiful meandering freshwater streams, and breathtaking views from our mountain top lookouts.

General horse riding tours are capped at a maximum of 6 riders per group, and led by two guides allowing for trots, and canters for the more experienced riders. Tours are completed with freshly made morning or afternoon tea served by the Billabong lagoon upon conclusion. Professional souvenir photos are also taken during your tour. They are produced while you wait, and available for purchase if you desire.

Tours outside our normal tour times are available upon request and subject to availability. A minimum booking of two riders is required for a special tour booking.

Sunset Horse Riding Adventure
Our sunset horse riding tour operates daily and is subject to weather conditions. This tour departs our ranch 1 hour prior to sunset, and you are taken on a magical late afternoon journey through the tropical rainforests of the Kuranda Valley. Be amazed at the teaming wildlife that accompanies you as you make your way to our 500m mountain top lookout where you will arrive at just in time fo the sun to set over the western plains. Continue your journey with your helmet lights on, as we venture into darkness, where our tour becomes a nocturnal frenzy as we make our way back to our ranch where a lit campfire by the Billabong lagoon, marshmallows ready for roasting, billy tea & hot chocolate await you. Professional souvenir photos are also taken during your tour. They are produced while you wait, and available for purchase if you desire.

Couples Sunset Horse Riding Tour
Our sunset couples horse riding tour operates by appointment and subject to weather conditions. This tour is a personalised and unique tour for couples wanting a private tour accompanied by their very own tour guide. This tour departs our ranch 1 hour prior to sunset, and you are taken on a magical late afternoon journey through the tropical rainforests of the Kuranda Valley. Be amazed at the teaming wildlife that accompanies you as you make your way to our 500m mountain top lookout where you will arrive at just in time to indulge the sun setting over the western plains. Continue your journey with your helmet lights on, and venture into darkness, where our tour becomes a nocturnal wildlife frenzy as you make our way back to our ranch where a lit campfire by the Billabong Lagoon & marshmallows ready for roasting await you. This tour is complemented by a platter of fresh local tropical fruits & exotic cheeses and crackers, along with your choice of either beer, wine or champange. A Professional souvenir photo is included with this tour.

All tours require participants to sign an acknowledgement of risk waiver form. Riders are also required to pay an additional $10.00 per person insurance levy (payable on board). A rider weight restriction of 110Kg applies.
